Spring has sprung!
After a long wet winter here in Northern California spring is finally here. Nature has roared back with a vengeance creating an amazing landscape painting of epic proportions with a record Spring Bloom.
My wife and I recently took a road trip to Joshua Tree National Park and caught the spring bloom. Not only did we catch the desert in bloom we were treated to 72 degree temps and clear blue skies. The Joshua Trees and rock formations of Joshua Tree Nat’l Park make for a unique and beautiful landscape like nothing else on Earth. It was truly amazing so I thought I’d share some pictures with you.
While the Mojave and Joshua Tree were wonderful the trip back to the Bay Area produced some surprises. We left Palm Springs at 5AM hoping to beat the rush hour traffic in the LA Basin on our way home. As it turned out, fortunately for us the traffic beat us. Not wanting to swim upstream in commute traffic through the LA area we took a detour and headed out to Lancaster. My plan was to head back out to Mojave then over to Tehachapi but when I saw a sign saying Hwy 138 to Gorman I couldn’t resist, never been that way before. Taking the road less traveled out through the Antelope Valley, Hwy 138 proved to be fortuitous. We thought the spectacular spring bloom was over but we were wrong. On the way to Gorman we were treated to an amazing spectacle of native flowers in full bloom. It was truly like driving through Monet’s landscapes, breathtaking.
We were truly blessed to have been in the right places at the right time to catch Mother Nature at her finest. Hope you enjoyed the journey.
Next month it’s our annual Jade Cove camping trip on the Big Sur Coast, can’t wait!
